The Library Connection
Event description
Join us for a library-themed walking tour of KCAI! On this 45-minute interactive walk, we will use observation and community to highlight the importance of shared spaces like libraries that document the facets of human experience. We will begin in Rowland Commons and move through the KCAI campus, eventually ending at the Jannes Library. As we move through the walk, you and other participants will be asked to observe and write down what you see and how you are impacted by the space around the group. Activities will focus on important aspects of the environments around us and the relationships we have with them, with a special conclusion dedicated to Jannes Library and the librarians that keep this space alive.
We will be walking less than half a mile in total. The majority of this walk will be on steep ground, and participants will need to cross a road. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and visible clothing. If needed, walking sticks and canes are encouraged for those who may be unable to walk on steep ground without additional support. All materials will be provided, but participants should expect to be writing continuously throughout the walk. Some writing will need to be done while standing. If this is a concern, participants may bring handheld surfaces to write on, such as clipboards and books.
