    Event description

    The Bendigo Bushwalking and Outdoor Club invites you to join them on the Lofty Heights Of Mount Lofty Loop.  Grade 2 (Medium)This walk is part of the Try Bushwalking Month, celebrating the 90th Anniversary of Bushwalking Victoria, the peak body representing 60+ bushwalking clubs across Victoria.

    Time to spring into action and tackle the lofty heights of Mt Lofty. The bush is alive with colour and it’s just the perfect time to get out and see a few relics in the Australian bush. Despite its lofty name, here is a mountain that defies description.

    DISTANCE:
     A loop walk of approximately 12km with coffee and cake afterwards in beautiful Redesdale.   It will last from 4.5-6hrs, including travel time.

    CHILDREN AND PETS: This walk is for adults 18 years and over, and due to the nature of the walk, we ask you to leave dogs and other pets at home.  Please contact the club directly to inquire about service animals, and any family or pet friendly walks.  : Suitable for most ages and fitness levels.  

    AWT Grade: Grade 2 (Medium) AWT Grade information.

    PACE: Our club walks cater for walkers of different fitness levels and walking pace.  The Bendigo Walking Club always assigns an experienced club member to be the last walker in the group to assist any slower walkers who are unable to achieve the moderate 3.5km per hour walk rate.

    TOTAL ASCENT: Total ascent or highest hill is a 100 metre climb.

    WALK DESCRIPTION: The walk is along well defined tracks and bush trails.

    CARPOOLING/PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Please ring or text the leader, Buzza 0438 437 680 if you need guidance on transport.

    MEETING POINT: Presbyterian Church Hall Forest Street Bendigo (Clubrooms cnr Rowan St).  Google Map - St. Johns Presbyterian Church Forest St Bendigo.  From there we will arrange carpool/convoy 45mins to the start point at Mt Lofty.

    PHONE SIGNAL:  Phone signals are generally reliable in this area.

    TOILETS: Toilets are adjacent to the Forest St Hall car park but not at Mt Lofty.

    WHAT TO BRING

    Mandatory:

    • Emergency contact form with medical info (from welcome pack)
    • 1.5L water
    • Backpack
    • Rain jacket
    • Hiking shoes/boots
    • Personal first aid kit (your health is your responsibility)
    • Sun hat/sunscreen

    Recommended:

    • Lunch 
    • Hiking poles
    • Bug spray

    ABOUT OUR CLUB: Walking with others is essentially a social experience while participating in exercise. The Bendigo Bushwalking and Outdoor Club is a small friendly club where new members are welcome. We conduct weekly walks and always try to end our walks at a coffee shop.
