The lost earring workshop with Sharon Cornthwaite
Description
Do you have a lonely earring that’s lost its match, a broken heirloom or collected objects tucked away in your jewellery box? Join us for a creative workshop where treasured fragments and forgotten keepsakes are transformed into wearable works of art.
Led by local sculptor and jeweller Sharon Cornthwaite, and inspired by SECCA’s current exhibition, Helen Britton’s The Story So Far, this hands-on workshop explores jewellery alteration and assemblage.
Using basic hand tools, stitching and metal-stamping techniques, participants will create their own unique earrings or brooches from personal treasures and a range of materials provided, including fabric, vintage tin, copper, sterling silver hooks and brooch backs. Drawing on Sharon’s longstanding practice of repurposing and reimagining found objects, the workshop encourages material exploration, experimentation and creative reuse.
When: Saturday 14 November
Time: 11am – 1pm
Cost: $85 plus booking fee
