Event description

We'd love you to join us for the second in our series of complimentary webinars for 2021 that take a deeper dive into the work we do at The Shepherd Centre.

The Magic of Learning to Listen will take place from 12:30pm on Wednesday 1st September 2021.

Have you ever wondered how a child learns language? Ever considered how you learned to listen to and understand the world of sound around you? In this webinar we look into the magic of language acquisition and explore the reasons why spoken language is compromised in children with hearing loss unless we act fast and act early. We also explore how listening underpins so much of who we are, from our thinking to our ability to achieve our goals in life and how programs at The Shepherd Centre support the development of the whole child to reach their full potential.

This webinar will be hosted by Joanna McAdam. Joanna is our Principal Listening and Spoken Language Manager and is a Certified Listening and Spoken Language Specialist and practising Speech Pathologist. Joanna joined The Shepherd Centre in 2007 after completing her Masters of Speech and Language Pathology at Macquarie University.

This is a great opportunity to gain a deeper insight into one of the key services we provide for children with hearing loss, and all from the comfort of your own home as this is an online event.
