The Many Faces of Knowledge: Wisdom and Different Ways of Knowing With Susan Carland

Session 8 of our Exploring Meditation, Meaning, and the Mind Seminar Series:

Knowledge wears many hats—as data or information it means one thing, to the academic it means something else, and to wisdom traditions something different again.

All forms of knowledge are important, yet not wholly sufficient on their own. This month, join Professor Craig Hassed and Monash academic, author, and television presenter, Dr. Susan Carland, as they explore knowledge as wisdom from an Islamic perspective and why wisdom and contemplation can provide insights and help us to work through real-world challenges.

Exploring Meditation, Meaning and the Mind:

This free monthly webinar series offers a deep dive into the realm of contemplative wisdom. Every first Thursday of the month (AEST) at lunchtime, immerse yourself in discussions with a diverse panel of thinkers, meditators, researchers, and individuals from various wisdom traditions, discussing topics like mindful parenting, burnout, morality, and the impacts of technology on attention. These sessions, guided by Professor Craig Hassed, conclude with an interactive Q&A, giving you a unique opportunity to engage with the panelists. This series is an open invitation to explore the profound impact of contemplative practices and bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and the complexities of modern living.
