The Modern Renaissance - Inaugural Salon for Friends
Event description
Dear friends,
You are known for your love of curated provocative conversations (‘salons’). As such, this salon is inspired by you.
Lately, we have been talking to you about civilization redesign. What does that even mean? Why does humanity need a reboot?
Precisely because our current systems have forgotten humanity. The world is suffering an ecological, economic and emotional crisis. Our economic and financial systems are designed to degrade. They are fractured systems optimised for growth at all costs, utilising extraction, colonisation and exploitation as profitable business models enriching the few at the cost of the many and our planet. By design, we are left disconnected from ourselves, our planet and each other.
We know it is not just us that yearns for community, climate compassion and connection. People feel the system breaking down, yet they want a breakthrough. But to achieve that breakthrough, we must ask a question: Are we ready to redesign civilization? ? The question is not if we can design it, but if we want to. Are we willing to leave behind the practices many assume are just “part and parcel of life” and reimagine a new world?
For those that are, this conversation is for you.
The Modern Renaissance is a project to reimagine civilization for the flourishing of all life on earth. The Renaissance brought together diverse groups of people from far-flung corners of society. We aim to do the same, by bringing together unlikely allies who share a society-shifting purpose. We believe that by amplifying global experiments & movements to regenerate the planet and distribute resources fairly, we can build human systems based on love. In doing so we aspire to a new age - the age of freedom.
We are excited to share and exchange ideas with you. We hope that you will leave the space with new friends, having learnt something useful and feel more supported in your own bold and worthy visions.
Peaceout,
Kat Dunn & Mike Kelly (MKD)
