The MULTI-FAITH FORUM ON LIVING WITH CLIMATE CHANGE: SAVING THE SACRED EARTH aims to bring together people from different faith and spiritual traditions, to share insights into how we can draw on our love and respect for the sacred to respond to the challenges of climate change within our respective communities as well as in the wider social context.
A special opportunity to hear from passionate defenders of our sacred home, the earth, as well as meeting up with people from numerous different faith and spiritual traditions or life philosophies.
Presenters include a First Nations ‘Welcome to Country’ by Noongar Elder, Len Yarran;
- spiritual reflections from Buddhist, Islamic, Baha’i and Christian perspectives;
- Jo Vallentine, long-time environmental and peace advocate reflects on ‘saving the sacred earth’ from a Quaker perspective;
- Alison Xamon, social justice advocate, former Greens MP, Mayor of the City of Vincent and a Christian, reviews her experiences of addressing sustainability in the WA economic and political environment;
- Geoff Bice, a Greenpeace Campaign Lead presents a case study on Saving Scott Reef from gas drilling as part of the Burrup Hub expansion;
- John Gherardi presents an alternative earth spirituality promoting engagement with the climate crisis.
