Event description

The Mungabeans, ‘80s Brisbane Underground Enfant Terribles return after 30 years for one night only. Known for their weird and extravagant stage shows, the ‘Beans were one of Brisbane’s most popular acts, regularly filling venues such as Jabbos, Mac’s 409 club, the Love Inn and the Outpost, before moving down to Sydney in the late 1980s. Led by guitarist and songwriter, Pauly Gro, the Mungabeans were a noted influence to later post-punk satirical acts, such as TISM, pushing the envelope of taste and theatricality. Today, they’re just a bunch of sad old men roaming the empty halls of their mansions, watching their Tesla stock plummet, which is the reason why they’ve had to come out of retirement to do this gig.

Following the release of their EP, A Much Sweeter Gag in 1988, Guitarist Evan Clarry lost his mind on drugs and left for Melbourne to work in television and give all his money away to charity. Following the eventual demise of the band, Paul and ‘Beans drummer, Lord Michael McCann joined forces with ex-Skyhook Greg McCainsh to create World Dog. Look it up on youtube. Kanye did, and the rest, as they say, is history. The Mungabeans are very excited to get together again after so long. They are sparing expense in order to create a show you will not soon forget, no matter how hard you try.

They will be joined on the night by Waving at Cars and The Trespassers.
