The Music of Postmodern Jukebox - Jazztrix and Jenny Wren at Denmark Uniting Church

Jazztrix and Jenny Wren present the music of Postmodern Jukebox at Denmark Uniting Church on Sunday 11th of October.

Postmodern Jukebox—a project initiated by US pianist Scott Bradlee—rose to fame as a YouTube sensation in 2011, reworking popular modern hits into vintage jazz styles. You’ll hear versions of Radiohead’s “Creep”, The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army”, Meghan Trainer’s “All About That Bass” and many more surprises.

What’s more you’ll hear original, licensed arrangements by David Rastrick; jazz renditions of classic Australian rock songs such as INXs’ “Never Tear Us Apart”, Dragons’ “April Sun in Cuba” and The Angels’ “Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again”., from Jazztrix’ “It’s Jazz, Mate!’ EP released in 2024.

Who are the team behind the concert? Jazztrix is joined by vocal sensation Jenny Wren, who’s sung with bands including Southern Soul and The Beardless Hipsters and has previously collaborated with Jazztrix in a Billie Holiday tribute. Jazztrix have been performing in various combinations since 2007, opening the annual Leeuwin concert for ten years running for artists such as Carole King, Diana Krall, James Taylor and James Morrison. As well as being a regular fixture at local swing dances, the combo has presented tribute shows such as Miles Davis 100 year celebration, “Brilliant Bacharach”, and “Hendrix in Jazz”. Jazztrix will feature David Rastrick on vocals and trumpets, Ross Dwyer on guitar, Grant Moulden on Upright Bass, and Lauchlan Gillett on drum-set.
