‘The Mystery of the Megafauna’ presented by Dr Aaron Camens, Flinders University.
89-91 Murray St
gawler, australia
Event description
The Town of Gawler has a rich and diverse history. In 1891, a skeleton of a Diprotodon, the biggest marsupial that ever lived, was discovered at the back of an old cottage in the town’s main street. An authority on Diprotodon, Dr Aaron Camens will discuss the controversial issue of what caused the extinction of Australia’s megafauna: was it human intervention or nature? He will captivate the audience with stories of the extinct megafauna and explain how our continent’s fossil history is crucial to understanding how all living things will adapt to a changing climate.
