Event description

Defining Anti-Semitism

Compromising Civil Liberties And Academic Freedom In The Service Of Occupation And Apartheid

  • Is there a tangible rise in anti-Semitism in Australia? What motivated this rise?
  • What is the history of anti-Semitism in Australia and worldwide? How connected is anti-Semitism to Zionism?
  • What role does the Israel (Zionist) Lobby in Australia play in influencing anti-Semitism?
  • What are the main concerns of the newly-endorsed definition of anti-Semitism by Universities Australia (UA)? How does it impact on academic freedom?
  • Are we going to see a consolidation of such a definition in the Australian legal system?

To answer all these questions and more, please join us in this in-depth discussion with Peter Slezak, an associate professor of philosophy at the University of New South Wales, Australia. A Jewish anti-Zionist and an occasional public commentator on science, philosophy, religion and politics. Author of “Spectator in the Cartesian Theatre”

Join us in this important online conversation on Tuesday, the 11th of March 2025, at 7PM to discuss the current local affairs including the recent Universities Australia (UA) endorsement of the new controversial anti-Semitism definition.
