The No Good Crowd and The Lazy Villains

The No Good Crowd celebrates the release of debut album Unproper with a co-headlining show alongside friends The Lazy Villains, who recently dropped their debut Thrown. From jangly guitars to cosmic country grooves, it's one unforgettable night that brings two new records—and a lot of old friends—to life on the same stage. Stick around for a special encore featuring great songs, a few surprises, and a one-night-only finale.

The No Good Crowd

You know those nights when everything just clicks—the pints flowing, the stage humming, the music grinning at you like an old friend? That’s the spark behind The No Good Crowd. Even in an era of bedroom pop and chillwave, these four Philly lifers forged a genre-blending mix of garage, power pop, jangle, punk, and Americana from their very first shows together.

You know those nights when everything just clicks—the pints flowing, the stage humming, the music grinning at you like an old friend? That's the spark behind The No Good Crowd. While rock music keeps reinventing itself, these four Philly lifers found common ground in a guitar-driven blend of garage rock, power pop, jangle, punk, and Americana that has been winning over audiences since their very first shows together.

Guitarists Jamie Olson and Jim McGuinn first crossed paths in Philadelphia's semi-beloved Cordalene (2000–2005). After the split, Olson fronted the rootsy Midnight Singers alongside drummer Neil Simpkins before forming the Atlantic Coast Ramblers with bassist Brendan Skwire. McGuinn spent a decade in Minnesota with Saint Small and BNLX before returning to Philadelphia, reuniting with Olson et al, and launching The No Good Crowd.

Their early singles on Manic Pop Thrill Records introduced a hook-filled sound with plenty of garage-rock punch, featuring guest appearances from Adam Weiner (Low Cut Connie) and Emm Gryner (David Bowie). Now the band expands that vision on its debut full-length, Unproper—a collection of ten songs released on vinyl that celebrate melody, friendship, and the joyful racket that happens when great musicians share a room.

As they sing, "It's All Right Now / Searching for the Flutter and Wow." Because in the end, it's only rock & roll—but it's still one of the best ways to bring us together.

Lazy Villians

Lazy Villains are a Philadelphia-based Americana band. They will hold your heart hostage with their diabolical mix of layered harmony, soulful lyrics, and raging riffs. That is, if they feel like it…

The project originated in 2022 when singer-songwriter Sam Milz and guitarist Sean Heffernan moved to Philadelphia from State College, Pennsylvania. They gravitated to East Kensington where they found a thriving artistic community. In late 2023, drummer Jack Hopkins and bassist Mike Thatcher joined the Villains to help the duo arrange a set of original songs for their live debut. They spent the next two years refining their live sound and gaining recognition in the local Philadelphia music scene. During that time, the Villains added keyboardist Reed Bodenstein to the lineup to round out their sound. As of 2026, the band has seen multiple high-profile gig opportunities including opening for country virtuoso Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives.

Lazy Villains music is penned mainly by Milz and Heffernan– who initially connected over a shared obsession with the guitar dynamic on Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, the songwriting of Neil Young, and the freedom of musical expression in the blues. Since then, their appreciation for improvisation and authenticity has led them down a country music rabbit hole. In addition to their rhythmic contributions to the Villains’ sound, Hopkins and Thatcher’s vocal harmonies bring an element to the music reminiscent of The Band and Buck Owens & the Buckaroos.

The Villains have been hard at work on Thrown, their first release featuring six original songs and one cover. The album is set to be released in July of 2026.

Lazy Villains' Thrown was released in July of 2026. Thrown marks the first time guitarists Sean Heffernan and Sam Milz have entered the studio with drummer Jack Hopkins, bassist Mike Thatcher, and keyboardist Reed Bodenstein. The release captures Milz and Heffernan’s fresh take on the classic sounds that have inspired them since they first met in 2017.
