The Nook Sessions - Toby Mobbs + Jake Hill (support)
Description
Toby Mobbs + Jake Hill Live at The Nook Cooroy
Sun 11 Oct | Doors 3:00pm | 13+ | BYO
Toby Mobbs is a librarian by day and pop-folk singer-songwriter by night. Mobbs has sought to carve a unique music style both live and in the studio by incorporating thick, dynamic, and rhythmic guitar, warm vocals, and introspective lyrical storytelling. When not in his hometown of Albury NSW, you will find him traveling around Australia finding new towns and audiences to connect with, providing insight into the stories behind the music, and promoting his latest studio releases.
While Toby has been labelled one of the hardest working independent touring musicians in the country, and having supported the likes of Thirsty Merc, Josh Pyke, and Winterbourne, his studio recordings shine a different light to his stripped back performances on stage. These recordings break far away from the solo artist typecast, showcasing a unique interpretation of the many musical genres that inspire his writing.
In 2024 Mobbs again toured every Australian state and territory for his ‘In Between The Words’ National Album Tour travelling 14,000km in his car over 28 days. This tour promoted his second album by the same name showcasing "a stunning testament to Mobbs’ artistry and his impeccable ability to pen a tune" - Tyler Jenke
Jake Hill is an Australian country artist blending heartfelt storytelling with modern country influences and a soulful edge. After 14 years performing across Australia, Jake is now turning his focus to original music, crafting honest songs about love, life and small-town living that connect with audiences long after the last note.
FAQs
- Will tickets be available at the door?
These events have historically sold out before the event date. Tickets are limited to a small intimate crowd. Its highly unlikely unless we have cancelations last minute.
- BYO?
Yes! We are not licensed to sell alcohol. So you are welcome to BYO
- BYO food?
No, the space is too small to accommodate BYO food. We have small bar snacks available for purchase, and we recommend eating beforehand. There’s a great Indian restaurant just downstairs, Tandoori Flames.
- Parking
Public parking is available in the Pearl Lane car park, a short walk from The Nook. We ask that patrons avoid using the Cooroy Village Shopping Centre car park so there’s enough space for the restaurants downstairs.
- What does 13+ mean?
Our 13+ shows are open to teenagers aged 13–17 when accompanied by a responsible adult. The Nook is not a licensed venue, however it is BYO, so alcohol may be consumed by adults. These events are primarily geared towards adult audiences, so some performances may include mature themes or language, but the focus is always on live music.
