The Nuts and Bolts of Heathen Magic II: Fate and The Witch
Event description
What is this thing we call “fate,” and what do we know about how it may have been understood by historical Heathens? More importantly though, what relevance does this knowledge have to the Heathen Witch?
In the third class in the Elves, Witches and Gods series of classes, we’ll be continuing our deep dive into the material from chapter five, answering all of these questions and more.
We’ll begin with the Norns, their powers, their relationship to magical practitioners, and the power of fateful speech. Then we’ll dig deeper into the various historical words for “fate” in the Old Norse and Old English sources before taking a look at some possible connections with fiber magic. Finally, we’ll dig into the ethics and patterns of life in a wyrded world, as well as its implications for magic and divination. And along the way, we’ll practice some techniques for working in a hæl way with this thing we call “fate.”
As always, participation in activities is optional, however, attendees should be aware that some of the exercises presented in this class do require a degree of introspection that might be uncomfortable for some. All classes in this series are recorded (except for discussion/feedback sessions) and ALL TICKET HOLDERS RECEIVE LINKS TO RECORDINGS AFTER THE CLASS. Neither attendance nor a copy of my book are necessary.
