Are you ready to rock?

The Old Savoy Theatre was built in 1937 opening its doors on the 27th December 1937. The theatre was known for its art deco design and its Hammond organ, played be Wilbur Kentwell before movies and during intermissions. Initially a cinema it was taken over by Hoyt’s in the 1940s and closed on the 27th April 1963. In the 1970s the old theatre became a music venue and nightclub hosting many rock royalty bands such as AC/DC, Skyhooks, Stevie Wright, Sherbet, Hush and many more. In 1985 it was converted into a community hall and continues to be used for this purpose today.
