Event description

The Tasmanian Branch of the Pharmacy Guild invites you to attend a roundtable event on Tuesday 27 May between 10.30am and 2pm, focused on ‘scope of practice’ for community pharmacists.

Lunch will be provided on the day and there is no charge for attendance.

At this event we will:

  • explain what ‘scope of practice’ means, why it is important and how expanding pharmacists’ scope of practice benefits patients through increased access to services
  • outline the extra training that pharmacists will have to complete
  • highlight the importance of harmonisation across states and territories to ensure equity of healthcare across Australia
  • discuss the benefits of new community pharmacy services for your stakeholders and members, and hear about what other organisations are currently working on

We have been working with the State Government to deliver the Tasmanian Community Pharmacy Program. This program has expanded the healthcare services pharmacies can provide to patients, including more treatment options for urinary tract infections and better access to the oral contraceptive pill. We are now working with the Government to further expand the healthcare services pharmacists can provide patients in Tasmania to align us with other states (e.g. pharmacists in QLD can treat more health conditions than pharmacists in Tasmania).

This event will provide a great opportunity for your organisation to contribute to discussions, share any initiatives or priorities you are currently working on, and network with the other local stakeholders.
