The Physicality of Zazen
Zazen is the heart of our Zen practice. It is an embodied, physical practice working with energy and ease; strength and release. Whether you practice zazen in a form of the lotus posture, seiza (sitting bench), or in a chair, this workshop can help you optimize your sitting posture for zazen. Working with the skeletal structure and core muscles for strength and ease as developed in the work of Joseph Pilates as well as learning positions for release, we will be doing matwork and applying the principles to whatever form of sitting practice is right for you.
Myosho Ginny Matthews has had a continuous 50-year zazen practice and 40-year immersion in Pilates Matwork.
