Sun, 19 Oct, 3am - 3:45am EDT

Event description

Movement has the power to root us in both our inner and outer landscapes — to explore not only how we feel, but also the environments we inhabit.

In this workshop, dance artist and choreographer Lucy Doherty invites participants to engage in a practice inspired by site-specific dance. Together, you’ll explore “the place you’re in” — tuning into your physical surroundings as well as your emotional state — and discover how movement can become a bridge between body, space, and psyche.

Through guided exercises, Lucy will support you in expressing what’s held inside of you while also responding creatively to the world around you. No dance experience is required — only curiosity, openness, and a willingness to move.

About Lucy Doherty

Lucy Doherty is a dance artist, choreographer, and the director of Otherworld, a queer-led dance company specialising in site-specific performance. With over 15 years of experience in the professional dance world, she has performed and created across stage, screen, and site-specific contexts, working with leading artists, companies, and festivals both in Australia and internationally.

Following the loss of her mother to breast cancer in 2024, Lucy’s practice has increasingly centered on themes of grief and embodiment. She is interested in how the body can process and release emotion through movement, and how dance can open pathways to presence, connection, and care. At Attune, Lucy will guide an online movement workshop that invites participants to explore their external and internal landscapes through a gentle, embodied practice.
