The power of native grasses workshop
Event description
Native grasses do more than look good. Do you know that native grasslands need less mowing than lawns, and can be low bushfire risk? Do you know they’re key to supporting local wildlife, improving biodiversity, and creating a landscape that’s easier to care for and more resilient in the long run?
This hands-on workshop, hosted in partnership with Tasmanian Land Conservancy’s Land for Wildlife program offers
practical advice for small semi-rural property owners, hobby farmers and mid-sized non-commercial graziers to let
your property thrive with less effort - saving time, water, and improving the health and resilience of your
property while maintaining its appeal.
TOPICS INCLUDE:
- Benefits of native grasses, including less mowing and lower bushfire risks
- How to retain native grasslands to reduce maintenance costs and save on labour
- How to tell the difference between native grasses and weedy grasses
- Grazing and burning
- Mowing and no-mow zones
- Plant ID and species search
This is a hands-on event. Morning tea will be provided, please BYO camp chair.
