The Practice of Method: A Practical Introduction to the Artful Craft of Social Therapeutics
Description
At some point, I wanted more than a 'helping' role. I wanted to help people help each other to grow. I wanted to foster a growth community—a development community.
Rachel Mickenberg, LCSW
Day 1 - THE PRACTICE OF METHOD
Saturday, November 7 | 11:30am - 3:30pm (Eastern U.S.)
Explore and extend your social/relational clinical skills at this practical (developmental for you!), interactive workshop led and directed by social therapist, Rachel Mickenberg. Through a series of performance-based exercises -- and alongside fellow curious practitioners, healers, coaches, teachers and group facilitators -- sensuously practice building social therapeutic environments. Develop an artful, “walking along-side-of” therapeutic posture that relates to clients as the social creators of their lives and their emotional repertoire. Come away with a familiarity of key social therapeutic practices, including: performance, creative imitation, conversational activity, and keeping a focus on the group.
Day 2 - A RADICAL THERAPY FOR TURBULENT TIMES
Sunday, November 8 | 1:00 - 3:00pm (Eastern U.S.)
Then on Sunday, participate in a conversation with social therapeutic coaches and their clients and learn about the impact of this approach.
A limited number of scholarships are available for this offering (lowest registration price for the event is $60). For scholarship requests, write to clobman@eastsideinstitute.org. Include why you are interested in this practicum, and why you are asking for a scholarship.
