Event description

As soon as you think you’ve got your spending plan mastered, along comes another birthday or graduation season or wedding season which slingshots us into gift-buying, pricey hosting, and often a regretful credit card statement the next month. The giving and the receiving of gifts can feel so awkward and confusing, with all the joy, let-downs, generosity and class issues all tied up in a bow. For some of us, Gifting is a love language, but it isn’t everyone’s! Our culture has so many unwritten rules around gifts and expectations around life events. In this event, we’ll be discussing gifting and ways to gain clarity around your gifting values. We’ll include ways to set boundaries and change the gifting narrative with your family, friends, and colleagues. Join us to gain some relief from the stress!

Rachel Dunca, MA is a Financial Therapist based in Denver. She works with clients worldwide who need a judgement-free thought partner in their money journeys. Her clients grow more and more comfortable with their money ecosystem and more empowered in their lives.  She loves working with her hands in messy situations: gardening, parenting, making things, sorting basement clutter. And she LOVES talking about money. Probably because she likes getting up to her elbows in messy situations. Before training as an Art Psychotherapist, she managed accounting and operations for service-based small businesses. And then she became a psychotherapist to explore the depth of human experience (but it was a toss-up between psychotherapy and accounting). As a psychotherapist, she saw how financial stress and emotional spending was an under-served aspect of standard mental health work. Getting certified in Financial Social Work was the perfect piece to draw it all together.

Amanda Kruger, MA, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in Trauma and Financial Therapy. Amanda has been working in Mental Health since 2008. She is a Certified Financial Social Work Counselor and a member of the Financial Therapy Association. She is a thought leader in the Financial Wellness space and has been published by TherapyDen.com and UpJourney.com. Amanda volunteers with Financial Literacy First, and her biggest career aspirations are making Financial Education accessible to everyone and helping close the gender, racial, and disability wealth gaps . When she’s not working to close wealth gaps, you can find Amanda boarding an airplane, roller skating, or splurging on vintage vinyl.
