'The Purple Copper's Secret' Book Launch
Event description
Join local author Christine Bailey at the Hub for the launch of her very special book "The Purple Copper's Secret". It's a book with something for all ages, exploring a beautiful species of butterfly.
Senior Local Land Services Officer Allan Wray and Lithgow City Council Landcare coordinator Steven Fleischmann will also speak about their work monitoring the butterfly. They have considerable firsthand knowledge of the Purple Copper Butterfly’s ecology and habitat restoration, and fascinating images to accompany their information.
Learn why biodiversity is so important to our existence and how volunteers can help the butterfly survive and thrive.
There will be an accompanying photographic display of the Purple Copper’s lifecycle, courtesy of Ray Mjadwesch, and of other butterflies in the region and parts of Australia, courtesy of Alan Hyman.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase on the evening (cash or bank transfer), with all sales proceeds going to Local Landcare to assist with conservation efforts.
