Event description

Are we all '=' now?
Are we still '/' on issues of gender in work, sport, business, politics and family?
What are the '+'s of exploring gender equality creatively together?

The Quilt Project is a new collaborative creative experience curated by visual artist Arathi Kushwaha, enabling people to share their reality, thoughts,
feelings, and imaginations to address the gender disparity issues women and gender diverse people around the world are facing, through applique and patchwork.

The Quilt Project aims to create a large-scale block quilt, with panels created  with an applique of math basic symbols (such as not equal sign, inequality sign, and power sign etc). The project will collect as many as blocks as possible to represent the diverse community views on equality and then bring all blocks accruing to create a large-scale quilt. This quilt will then be displayed in public exhibitions which will also feature photos from the workshops and the stories shared by participants.

Come and be a part of the creative process. Sewing not only brings joy, but it has long term physical and mental health benefits as well. In our social media age, as we become more physically distant from each other, sewing is a way to stay in touch with each other: hand and mind working in harmony to convey what lies in our hearts.

All ages, genders, and levels of sewing experience are welcome.

Koha Appreciated.
