The Rachelle Eastwood Quintet
Description
Hailing from Aoteraroa, New Zealand, flautist Rachelle Eastwood has spent the past two years making Brisbane her new home. In this performance, she brings together original compositions and music inspired by the jazz of the 1960s and 70s, exploring the distinctive combination of flute and vibraphone that emerged during this era.
The repertoire draws on the music of Bobby Hutcherson, Charles Lloyd, Milt Jackson and others, alongside Rachelle’s own compositions influenced by this sound.
Joining Rachelle are Brendan Foster on vibraphone, Jordy Stitt on piano, Connor Perkins on bass and Lochlan Robinson on drums.
