"It pulls on the heartstrings"
“The Return is a small and intimate performance that makes you feel part of the show, pulls on the heartstrings, and leaves a lasting impression.”

As war tears through Gaza, a father waits for the clouds to bring his daughters home.
Night after night, Marwan returns to the same place, searching the sky for Rozan and Nagham, convinced that God has promised the return of all martyrs through the clouds. But when the boundary between life and death begins to dissolve, he is drawn into a breathtaking journey where he meets his daughter between this life and the hereafter.
Part dream, part reality, The Return is a haunting and visually stunning theatrical experience that transports audiences beyond the limits of time and space. Through magical realism, poetry, music, and powerful storytelling, the play invites us into a world where the dead speak, the living awaken, and even the deepest wounds become a doorway to transformation.
Written and directed by award winning Palestinian writer director Ala’a Al Qaisi, The Return will host two panelists on stage after each performance for Q&A with Al Qaisi.
The Return is inspired by and dedicated to the souls of Rozan and Nagham Abu Samra, whose light continues to guide us; to the unwavering resilience of their father Marwan and family; and to all those taken too soon in the ongoing genocide of Gaza.
Both intimate and epic, heartbreaking and unexpectedly humorous, The Return asks one of the most urgent questions of our time: how do we remain human in the face of unimaginable loss?
This is a story that will stay with you long after the curtain falls and will provoke serious questions about our life.
A powerful theatrical event not to be missed.

"This is one of the most important pieces of theatre to come out. It is not comfortable, and not trying to be. This moving work resonates with the costs of what it is to remain human"
