Clinical supervision resides at the intersection of professional development and interpersonal growth. This intensive 6-hour training offers a unique approach to supervision that balances technical expertise with emotional intelligence, preparing both new and experienced clinical supervisors to create relational, transformative learning environments with their supervisees.

Workshop Overview

In this training, participants will explore the role of clinical supervision through an innovative framework that integrates practical skills with heart-centered leadership. Through interactive exercises, case studies, and guided reflection, supervisors will develop the confidence and competence to navigate complex supervisory relationships while fostering growth in clinical practice.

Throughout this dynamic training, participants engage in experiential learning through role-play scenarios and case discussions, while reflective exercises help bridge theory with personal practice. The workshop features interactive activities designed to build practical supervision skills, complemented by valuable opportunities for peer learning and professional networking. All participants will receive a comprehensive resource package to support their ongoing development as supervisors.

Together we will…

• Apply at least three foundational supervision principles to develop an individualized leadership framework for clinical supervision

• Demonstrate the RUPI feedback model through role-play scenarios to deliver constructive feedback in challenging supervisory situations

• Analyze power dynamics in supervisory relationships using case studies to identify at least two strategies for maintaining ethical boundaries

• Design a structured evaluation process that incorporates both performance metrics and professional development goals

• Implement three specific strategies for managing ethical challenges in supervision settings

• Create an action plan that integrates clinical supervision best practices with specific workplace requirements

Your trainers:

Sarah Buino, LCSW, RDDP, CADC, NMT is a therapist and educator who's passionate about helping other clinicians grow. As founder of Head/Heart Therapy in Chicago and Head/Heart Business Therapy, she supports healthcare professionals in building sustainable practices. Through her podcast "Conversations with a Wounded Healer" and teaching at Loyola University, Sarah creates spaces for therapists to learn, connect, and develop their skills while honoring their own healing journey.

Sarah Suzuki, LCSW, CRADC (IL), LICSW (MN), NASW-MN Certified Supervisor, and Certified MINT Trainer, is the founder of Chicago Compass Counseling. She specializes in evidence-based supervision and Motivational Interviewing, empowering clinicians to develop ethical leadership and culturally responsive practices. Since 2010, Sarah has been leading professional development events to support the growth and excellence of therapists.
