How do they live? Who do they spend time with? What relationships do they form? And what can their behaviour tell us about the complex social lives of one of Australia’s most remarkable native predators?

Too often, wild animals are studied simply as populations, numbers or management problems. But behind those numbers are individual animals - intelligent, social creatures with relationships, behaviours and lives of their own.

As part of her Master’s research, Lisa Ashby has been using camera-trap data to explore the lives of dingoes in the Blue Mountains. Her work provides a fascinating glimpse into who these animals are, how they interact and how they use the landscape around them.
