FAQs
- Do I have to particpate in the jam? What if I just want to watch?
Absolutely! This is a show, right?
The showcase highlights up-and-coming indie teams from around the Bay Area, performing their unique take on improvised comedy.
The jam portion is where performers of all skill levels—from novices to seasoned veterans—get an opportunity to perform with one another in groups curated by the host. Here people who don't get to regularly perform and play with one another have a chance to connect, collaborate, and create spontaneously.
- What if I've never performed improv before?
It is strongly recommended that you first attend one of the regular jams (hosted all other Sundays) before trying improv at one of our showcases. There is far less pressure when the audience is just other improvisors. —Cody
Firstly, there is no pressure to get on stage. We want you to be ready and willing to join us whenever you feel prepared to do so.
If you do decide to participate, just introduce yourself to the host and they will go over all the details of the jam and what you might need to keep in mind. Our main host Cody Frost has been hosting improv jams for over five years and has introduced this collaborative art form to many new players.
- What if I sign up to participate but change my mind?
No problem. If the host calls your name but you aren't feeling it, just stay in your seat. The host won't wait for you to come down, and won't pressure you either. We want your participation to be one of excitement, fun, and laughter—we'll meet you on stage when you're ready.
