Event description

THE SNOW

The Snow is a play by the prolific Australian playwright, Finegan Kruckemeyer, presented by Wintergreen Creative. When an epic snowfall imprisons the residents of the tiny village of Kishka, young Theodore Sutton proposes the villagers build a catapult to fling him and seven of the village’s bravest and strongest out in search of a solution. The catapult is hastily assembled and Theodore and the heroes are launched over the snow and into the grandest of adventures. Whimsical and humorous, dark and mysterious, heartfelt and sincere, this play complete with original live music weaves a fantastical Grimmsian tale for the entire family (recommended for 8yrs +).

There will be the chance for a cuppa and to have a Q&A with the actors after the show.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Lisa Allan, Dan Allan, Damien Jordan-McGrath and Pete Foley first started making theatre together over 20 years ago! Lisa, Damien and Pete all trained at Hagley Theatre Company under the tutelage of Cameron Mattox and Tony McAffrey. They then met Dan through the University of Canterbury, formed a theatre company and the rest is history. The four thespians are all living once more in the same city, Ōtautahi Christchurch, so it was a natural progression to start making theatre together again. The troupe is excited to share this very silly, slightly dark and ultimately delightful piece with you!

COLOURING COMPETITION

We have created a colouring competition (open to children AND adults!) with some lovely prizes to be won. To enter, print off a copy from www.wintergreencreative.co.nz and bring your work of art to the show. Colouring competition design by Gina Foley based on the poster designed by Dan Bain. The competition should be submitted on the 17th of May at the show and the winner will be announced after the show.
