The Social Impact of Community Pools in the Pilbara

The Centre for Social Impact UWA evaluated the programs delivered by Royal Life Saving and social investment by BHP at the Port Hedland, Newman, Yandeyarra, and Jigalong community pools.

The research found these programs delivered physical activity, education, health and employment outcomes and the report highlights many opportunities for further increasing the benefits in terms of social connection, well-being and economic participation.

We look forward to celebrating the successful completion of the project and exploring the significant potential of remote community swimming pools.
