Soul Seekers
Event description
Please note that this show has been rescheduled from Friday, October 26 to this new date of Saturday, December 7.
The Soul Seekers debut at The Bornemann Theatre
People often share how the music of The Soul Seekers "moves" them, "lifts their spirits," brings a sense of joy, or evokes "pleasant memories" from the past. Compliments like, "you have such great voices!" or "we dig your look!" are frequently heard. Yet, for The Soul Seekers, the true joy comes from playing music that brings happiness to the audience. They encourage their listeners to enjoy drinks and food, hoping to leave such a positive impression that they'll be invited back for future performances. Their message to the crowd is clear: their goal is "...to have fun and fill the empty spaces with good music that lifts the human spirit."
Although The Soul Seekers have only been together for about two years, they are rooted in the soft classic rock of the late '60s and '70s. Their repertoire includes music by The Moody Blues, Van Morrison, Linda Ronstadt, Bread, Glen Campbell, Chicago, and Gospel/contemporary Christian songs, showcasing an eclectic and diverse style. Performing across North County San Diego, the band brings a wealth of experience, with its five members collectively boasting about 233 years of professional musicianship—four of whom have been playing professionally for over 40 years each.
Lead vocalist Pastor Bruce De Soto leads the band with his unique commanding voice which is suitable for the band’s diverse choice of music (classic rock, pop, R&B and contemporary Christian). Bruce has led worship in his church(es) for over 40 years, and his wife, Claudia Cobian, the Soul Seekers female lead vocalist, has been singing with Bruce for 26 years and performing on numerous worship teams for almost 30 years.
Mark Wood (“Woody”) has been in many North County bands throughout the years. He co-founded Custard Pie 23 years ago and is the lead guitarist of this popular Led Zepplin/Stones tribute band.
Dana Marver (a.k.a, “the marvelous one”) plays both bass & keys, and in 2010, he co-founded (with Ozzie Mancinelli) the popular national tribute band “The PettyBreakers,” a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute act. He toured for a season with Blues guitar master, Chris Cane, and for years was a popular rock music promoter in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Besides playing with the Soul Seekers, renowned drummer and percussionist Memo Acevedo plays music with The Wings of Eagles, a new Eagles tribute band that performed a sell out show at The Bornemann in early July. He was a teen rock star in Colombia, and as an adult, Memo played with numerous famous musicians in his long industrious music career (e.g., Tito Puente, Vikki Carr, Gregory Hines, and Stephen Stills, to name a few). For 12 years, he served as a professor of music at NYU.
