The Spoken Word Soirée #2: Polarities - Welcoming Darkness and Light
Event description
Spoken Word Soirée at Empire Café
Theme: Polarities - the Darkness and the Light, the Yin and the Yang, the Strong and the Soft, The Feminine and the Masculine.
Calling all poets, writers, musicians, performance poets, rappers, lovers of language and book nerds as we gather for a night of inspiring spoken word and storytelling.
On June 4, as days continue to shorten and nights envelop us with their blackened embrace, we meet in the warmth of Empire Cafe, Mullumbimby, for a night of spoken word. We bask in the sun's glow and feel the nip of winter's chill as we teeter ever closer to the Winter Solstice. Seek inspiration from endless dualities of this world, the light and dark, the ultimate cosmic duo, constantly dancing together in a vibrant game of contrasts.
This community event welcomes everyone; the mic is open to sharing work-in-progress, favourite poets, songs, slam poets, and spontaneous musings.
Email storiesbysophieau@gmail.com to perform or come along for a bite to eat and to seek inspiration. Performance is optional. You’ll have three minutes to express your creativity.
Enjoy tasty, organic delights by the sensational Anna Lu from the Empire Cafe —a feast for the senses, crafted with care. Sip on a botanical elixir, or grab a wine from the bar.
