The Spooky Men's Chorale in Concert
Event description
The Spooky Men's Chorale is a mighty, many-headed singing beast, and they're turning the men's singing world upside down. They seek to both celebrate masculinity and to mock it, while carving out new territories of mighty man sounds, exquisite tenderness, and charming stupidity. Now, armed with no more than their voices and an ill-matched set of hats, they're rumbling down to the South Coast this November.
Formed in New South Wales by NZ-born Stephen Taberner in 2001, the Spooks have become rock-solid festival and theatre favourites in Australia and the UK. Their ability to find new musical rooms to explore contributes greatly to their astonishing fan loyalty. With seven CDs and 900 gigs under their belts, they’ve performed to total audiences of over 400,000.
But they long to visit the South Coast.
This show evokes musical worlds far beyond that suggested by their unassuming, casually-hatted, black-clad appearance. They are just a bunch of blokes, but where they take you will blow your mind.
