The Deportation Stories They Tried to Silence | Conversation with Laurent Richard and Raney Aronson-Rath

Join the Medill School and Roberta Buffett Institute for a discussion on the highly anticipated reporting collaboration The Deportation Project. 72 journalists from 26 news organizations across 15 countries have produced a global investigation into the Trump administration's secret deals to expel people worldwide.

The event will feature The Deportation Project's lead producers Laurent Richard, Founder and Executive Director of Forbidden Stories, a nonprofit news organization that protects the work of threatened journalists and pursues the investigations of reporters who have been silenced, and Raney Aronson-Rath, Editor-in-Chief and Executive Producer of FRONTLINE, PBS's flagship investigative journalism documentary series. In conversation with Buffett Distinguished Practitioner in Residence Kathy Im, Director of the MacArthur Foundation’s Journalism and Media program, Richard and Aronson-Rath will discuss what the investigation revealed about US immigration and deportation policies and their impacts around the world, as well as the growing risks journalists face in reporting these stories.
