The ancient art of storytelling comes to life as six storytellers from diverse walks of life take the stage to share true, deeply personal stories. Set in the warm and friendly atmosphere of Bucketty’s Brewing Co. Brookvale, this unique event invites you to relax with a beer, enjoy a meal, and connect with your community. Expect laughter, drama, and maybe even a few tears as you experience an evening of real stories that entertain, inspire, and bring people together here on the Northern Beaches.

Please Note:  Venue will be open from 5.15pm allowing time for you to order a meal and have a drink before the entertainment commences at 7pm sharp. 

Meet the Storytellers (in no particular order)

 

Matt Caruana

Matt turned the “worst day of his life” into his greatest years by forging his best-self to be an example of hope for others.
He is an ambassador for Lifeline Australia, and in 2023, he broke the Guinness World Record for the most towel pull-ups in one minute.
Having completed hundreds of speaking engagements, he co-delivers programs on best-self leadership and Mental Wellness with his partnership in Seismic Jump.
Matt, alongside 14 other Australians featured in John Brogden’s new book, “Profiles in Hope.” He appeared alongside James Packer, Robbie Williams and Jacqui Lambie on Channel 7’s top-rating Spotlight TV program.
In 2025, Matt was accepted into the Australian National Para Climbing Team and will be competing at the Innsbruck World Cup in June 2025

Debbie Jungmin Lee (visiting from South Korea for The International Storytelling Convention

Debbie Jungmin Lee is the author of five books, including Open Sandwich, Heartworking, Hygge Parenting (published in Korea), as well as The Art of Mastering Success and Breakthrough (available on Amazon). She is the founder of Havenkind Co., Ltd and a passionate advocate for personal growth, leadership, and parenting with heart.

In recognition of her impact and innovation, Debbie was honoured with the 2024 Korea Customer Satisfaction & Innovation Management Brand Award.

An accomplished speaker, she has shared her insights at prestigious events around the world, including the Global Women Leaders Forum under the Korea-ASEAN Summit, the Latvian Embassy Seminar, and global platforms such as WIFE and the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Debbie's diverse professional background spans global marketing and leadership roles across industries. Her career includes positions with Hempel A/S (Global Marketing), the EU Chamber of Commerce (Director), the Royal Danish Embassy Korea (Commercial Officer), and HSBC Korea (Foreign Investment).

Debbie brings together her global business experience, deep storytelling ability, and heart-centred leadership to inspire individuals and organisations to thrive.

Kim MIller

Kim Miller is passionate about ending human trafficking. As part of the team at Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, she works alongside dedicated colleagues to rescue victims and prevent trafficking before it happens. On July 28, 2024, Kim swam the English Channel to raise awareness and vital funds to support this life-changing mission. She believes in the power of action and community to create a safer, fairer world.

Leanne Logan- from The Northern Rivers- in Sydney for The International Story Telling Convention

Leanne is a professional storyteller, activist and mentor. Through her business Storytelling at Your Service, Leanne is inspiring a revival in oral storytelling in early childhood and primary school settings, bringing stories that matter to a generation of children hungry for the oral word.
In 2017 Leanne coined the expression "collaborative storytelling" to describe the inclusive and co-creational nature of her work. She has continued to grow this initiative through becoming the "Storyteller in Residence" at many preschools and early learning centres on Bundjalung and Yaegl countries in NSW's Northern Rivers.
Leanne’s work sees her sharing intentional stories with hundreds of children, educators and teachers every week, inviting questions and curiosity around the learning from these stories, inspiring children and adults alike to play with their imaginations, and expanding learning through reflective documentation practices.
A former journalist and travel writer, Leanne spent decades exploring the world as a writer for Lonely Planet publications before becoming an early childhood educator 16 years ago


Christine Wan

Christine Wan has spent over a decade teaching financial literacy to medicos and more than 20 years sharing her passion for English literature and creative writing with senior school students. Alongside her work in education, she built a multi seven-figure business, giving her a wealth of experience in entrepreneurship and leadership. Through each of these pursuits, Christine has taken the stage before audiences large and small, honing her skills as a communicator. She is also a professional member of the Professional Speakers Association, committed to continually refining and elevating her craft as a speaker.
