Event description

This event is part of eTown's Earth Week  - a week of music, film, conversation and community coming-togetherness as we celebrate Earth Week and 34 years of eTown.

Doors: 6:30 p.m.
Talk: 7 p.m.

Nick Forster, the founder and CEO of eTown, a member of the award-winning band Hot Rize, and a true Boulder icon, brings his signature warmth and insight to The Talk of Our Town. This series invites notable guests to dive deep into the people, culture and stories that have made Boulder the city that it is today.

On April 24th, Nick will have a discussion with Ruth Wright, the “mother of Boulder’s greenbelt.” In the 1960s, Ruth helped win voter approval for a sales tax to purchase and preserve open space — making Boulder the first city in the nation to tax itself for the purpose of land preservation. She also wrote a legal paper that resulted in Boulder limiting the building height to 55 feet in Boulder to preserve views and historic buildings. She worked on behalf of clean water, clean air and protecting and preserving our natural environment. Now in her 90’s, she was recently featured in a documentary film about her life that was presented at the Boulder International Film Festival.

At eTown's Talk of Our Town events, you’ll connect with new and veteran Boulderites, so plan to come early and stay late to mix and mingle in the eTown cafe. The eTown cafe offers a variety of beers, wines, cocktails, and tasty sweet and savory bites.

Tickets are only $15.

Whether you just moved to Boulder or have seen all the changes that have come our way, The Talk of Our Town is a great way to connect with fellow Boulderites and dive into the city’s unique culture and history.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the conversation beginning at 7 p.m.

With every eTown ticket purchase, you're supporting the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. eTown donates $1 per ticket to Conscious Alliance, aiding hunger relief, youth programs and sustainable solutions for the Oglala Lakota Nation.
