Pick It Up, Pass It On

This year’s theme is simple — but meaningful.

Pick It Up, Pass It On is all about connection. It’s not just about passing on information — it’s about sharing experience, supporting each other, and building something stronger together.

In our fast-moving, people-focused profession, we each carry tools, ideas and lessons that could really help someone else — whether that’s a strategy that worked in a tough moment, a mindset shift that changed your approach, or a hard-earned lesson you wish someone had shared with you.

This year, we’re focusing on what it means to share generously — and to stay open to learning in return.

You’ll hear from interpreters and translators across career stages and contexts, exploring how we can:

• Recognise experience without reinforcing hierarchy

• Challenge the idea that expertise only flows one way

• Share what works (and what doesn’t) to build confidence and connection

• Link real-world practice with research, training and lived experience

• Support each other through mentoring, collaboration and honest conversations

• Create space for learners, early-career professionals, and those returning to the field

• Learn from international colleagues and widen our perspectives

Whether you’ve been in the profession for three months or thirty years, this is a call to contribute — and to connect.

​The conference will be held totally online, and will be accessible in:

• English (and English Captions)

• British Sign Language

With sufficient demand we will also provide

• Auslan

• Possible Languages available: Auslan, BSL, English, Spanish and French (available if sufficient demand)

• Delegate camera on or off? Off
