Event description

Please join us at the Mazza Castle for an evening of beautiful chamber music with The Town Quartet

The Town Quartet will perform pieces by Corelli, Mendelssohn, Piazzolla, Barber and Patzner.

The Town Quartet was born in the Bay Area’s town, Oakland as a fusion of four musicians and their love of chamber music. Formed in 2011, the current roster includes violinists Sarah Biagini and Michèle Walther, violist Jacob Hansen-Joseph, and cellist Lewis Patzner.

Members of the quartet have performed in major music festivals, including Aspen, Tanglewood, Bear Valley, Schleswig-Holstein and Santa Fe Chamber Music, and are members of the Berkeley Symphony, Santa Rosa Symphony, California Symphony, Opera Parallele, Musical Art Quintet, and many others. Additionally, members have performed with Andrea Bocelli, Nick Cave, Jethro Tull, Gloria Estefan, and many more.

For us, playing as a quartet is about fun, friendship, playing music we love in a way that makes us proud, and improving as individual players and as a group. The quartet has worked with faculty at Mills college and CSU San Francisco, has served as quartet-in-residence at CSU Chico, and often performs music of local, living composers as well as unearthing rarely played string quartets. We also enjoy collaborations with presenters such as the Distinguished Artists Classical Music Concert and Lecture Series in Santa Cruz, InterMusic SF at The Legion of Honor Museum, and the Opus Series in Mendocino. The Town Quartet occasionally produces its own concerts at various venues in the area, including Vessel Gallery and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Oakland, and Music on the Hill in San Francisco.
