The Unconquered Sun (Missoula)
Description
From the radiant to the reflective, The Unconquered Sun is a celebration of the light that persists—even in the darkest season. Dolce Canto’s program travels across centuries and continents, bringing together luminous sacred works, vivid Renaissance and Baroque music, evocative contemporary compositions, and beloved choral favorites.
Opening with the mystical fire of Hildegard, the exuberance of Latin American colonial music, and the radiant sounds of Gabriel’s announcement, we’ll also explore the shimmering northern skies of Ēriks Ešenvalds’ Northern Lights, the haunting beauty of Morten Lauridsen’s Lament for Pasiphae, and music that captures winter in both its starkness and its promise.
Join Dolce Canto for an afternoon of music that reminds us that, however long the night, the sun remains unconquered.
