Event description

The Unsaid: Alone, Together.

A social experiment.

Psychologists love to create meaningful conversation. They tap into the science of human behaviour and ask questions to help us explore ideas and perhaps say things we have previously left unsaid. In the process, we hope to learn something of ourselves and our perspective on the world, to find clarity and connection.

This event is designed to spark new and brave conversations on topics that matter. It is a place where you have permission to speak, and we encourage you to go beyond small talk with other curious participants. Unlock your innate capacity for meaningful conversation and connection as we explore styles of conversation and issues that get to the heart of being human. You may even leave having made new friends.

9 June Event Theme: Alone, Together

When we consider our basic human needs things like food, shelter and safety quickly come to mind. Equally important is the need to belong, to be connected to others. We flourish when we feel valued by and connected to others. We also survive and achieve more in groups than we do alone. Some of us may need more human connection than others, but we all fare better when we are connected in small incidental ways, and in deeper more meaningful ways.

In this Unsaid experiment, we explore the psychology of loneliness and connection. Get ready to discuss science-informed ideas and questions such as, how much connection is enough? What can we do to build better connections? What role does technology play? How can we take better care of our social life?
