The Village of 12 Nights
Event description
A magical theatre experience imagined, written, and performed by the Glass Ceiling Community Theatre Company, featuring live music composed by our participants.
A cast of 20 open the show with Imagination, a song that invites the audience into a world shaped by their own creativity. Four families - the Farmhouse, the Mayoral Mansion, the Royal Palace, and the Beauty Salon - set the stage, culminating in the Queen’s coronation with revelry, dance, and a grand feast.
However while the people celebrate, the animals gather in secret, voicing their mistreatment and deciding to leave. Their absence throws the community into turmoil, leading Prince Graham into the mountains on a desperate search, where he is injured and rescued by the very animals who fled. As the villagers grieve, the animals return with the Prince, and together they forge a Treaty of respect and coexistence.
The story closes with renewal and joy, marked by the birth of a royal baby and the return of a faithful pirate lover.
The stylistic approach of this production is to minimise props and set and with inventive lighting, innovative staging, and the excitement of a live band, present an immersive and surprising musical play. Written and composed by the participants, the play is bursting with songs, humour and theatricality.
