From South Coast NSW (Dharawal Country), The Water Runners draw on the story-telling traditions of folk, bluegrass, and country to play an exciting and contemporary blend of Australian music that incorporates rich storytelling, engaging melodies, and heartfelt lyrics.
Their music draws on a diverse range of influences from contemporary artists like Paul Kelly and The Morrisons to the classic bluegrass tradition of artists such as Bill Monroe.
The band has won recognition for their talents through various songwriting awards, achieving ‘People’s Choice’ finalist in 2021, and then Runners Up 2025 Australian Folk Music Awards, and being awarded best band in the 2020 National Busking Championships.
In 2025, the band recorded their 4th album with renowned producer Syd Green (19-Twenty, Kasey Chambers).
