The Weaponisation of Anti-Semitism
Zionism, Israel and The Internal Operations of the ‘IHRA’ Definition of Anti-Semitism
What does the historical data tell us about the apparent rise in global anti-Semitic hate speech since World War I?
How has anti-Semitism been used to strengthen connections with Zionism and Israel within the Jewish communities worldwide?
What is the working definition of antisemitism published by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA)?
How effective has the IHRA working definition been in combating anti-Semitism?
How has the IHRA definition of antisemitism been used to shield Israel from accusations of genocidal violence?
To answer all these questions and more, please join us in this in-depth discussion with Professor Neve Gordon.
After teaching for seventeen years at Ben-Gurion University in Israel, Professor Neve Gordon joined the School of Law at Queen Mary University of London. His research focuses on international humanitarian law, human rights, the ethics of violence, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Professor has written extensively about the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism and the weaponisation of anti-Semitism to silence criticism of Israel's genocide and war crimes against the Palestinians.
He is the author of "Israel’s Occupation" (University of California Press 2008) and co-author of "The Human Right to Dominate" (Oxford University Press, 2015) and "Human Shields: A History of People in the Line of Fire" (University of California Press, 2020).
Professor Gordon is the former Chair of the British Society of Middle Eastern Studies’ Committee on Academic Freedom, he is a Fellow of the British Academy of Social Sciences and writes regularly for the popular press including Al-Jazeera English.
Join us in this highly educational session with Professor Gordon to discuss the history and evolution of the Israeli colonisation of Palestine with a particular focus on Gaza.
