Zionism: Origins, goals and influence

The weaponization of Jewish trauma and anti-Semitism in the service of apartheid and empire

  • Has Zionism been an effective tool in combating anti-Semitism? How attached is Zionism to Judaism?
  • How accurate is the reference to Zionism as being a settler colonial ideology?
  • Should anti-Zionism be considered as hostility to the Jewish people’s right to exist and thrive in the Jewish state of Israel?
  • Does Israel continue to serve the purpose of being a haven of the Jews, and an effective extension of the imperialist West within the Arab world?
  • Other than providing for military services, what role does the Israeli army play within the structure of the state and society? How is it different from other countries’ military establishments?

To answer all these questions and more, please join us in this brilliant discussion with Professor Professor Haim Bresheeth-zabner.

Professor Haim is An anti-Zionist Israeli Jew based in the UK. He is a filmmaker, photographer and a film studies scholar.

After having taught at the School of Oriental and African Studies SOAS, University of London since early 2002, he retired and is now a professional research associate there.
