The Yoga of Writing
Event description
The Yoga of Writing
with Alina Hughes
a 5 week course beginning Tuesday 22 October
at Soul Tribe Studio, Beach Road, Batehaven
The ancient yogis taught that there are five Indriyas (spiritual faculties or powers) that
underpin successful practice whether that be yoga, meditation, writing or in any walk of life.
They also taught that the Indriyas were a pathway to wisdom, to the natural wisdom of our
own heart. During this course we will take a meditative meander through the five Indriyas
exploring their relevance to our personal aspirations in this life. The writing practices will
help us to develop our own understanding of each of the five powers, to cultivate those
qualities within ourselves and to draw on their support in our everyday lives.
Alina believes that the practice of writing brings us home to ourselves, untangles confusion,
reconnects with our truth. It is a process of discovery, a way of resolving inner conflict and
helps build a strong spine for walking in a world of increasing uncertainty.
Drawing on her extensive experience as a yoga teacher trainer and her understanding of
ancient yogic wisdom, Alina encourages you to bring your whole and natural self to the act
of writing. She creates a safe space in which to facilitate new discoveries, inspire creative
possibilities and emerge as a more integrated human being.
This course is suitable for experienced and non-experienced writers and yogis. It is for
anyone who yearns to activate their natural creative expression, meet with like-minded
others and explore together the mysteries of life.
We hope you will join us.
