Young Naturalists will investigate Australian biodiversity in our unique Nature Laboratory and venture into the park to discover insects, fungi, wildlife and native plants in the forests and mangroves, as they learn Nature Photography and participate in Citizen Science with our Young Naturalist Nature Discovery Project.
Join our Discovery Team to get active in Nature-
* Explore the forests and mangroves to discover the insects, fungi, and wildlife that inhabit these ecosystems.
* Discover the native plants that create essential habitat for insects, fungi, and wildlife.
* Learn the essentials of Nature Photography for citizen science, as we focus our Canon cameras on the plants, fungi and insects that provide habitat and food for wildlife in Sydney Olympic Park.
* Become a Citizen Scientist by participating
in our Young Naturalist Nature Discovery Project with iNaturalist and the UNSW Centre for Ecosystem Science.
* Investigate our spectacular collection of insects and fungi through hands-on activities, using microscopes and magnifying lamps, in our unique Nature Laboratory.
* Experience the magic of magnification as you view flower pollen, fungal spores, butterfly wings and insect antennae under the microscope.
* Discover the unique relationships between insects and plants.
* Create scientific drawings of your favourite insects & plants in your Young Naturalist Sketch Book.
* Get up close & personal with our LIVE Spiny Leaf Insects (Extatosoma tiaratum).
