Seasons Series 2- Djeran/ Pourner Event- 'The Cove Beachfront' Wilson Inlet.
Event description
Djeran is the season of adulthood. It can be identified by the cooler weather setting in, the winds becoming less intense and the presence of the flying ants. On this excursion Lynette Knapp a Merningar Barduk Noongar Elder and Adjunct Research Associate at UWA Albany will be touching on the seasonal changes that occur during Pourner/Djeran as well the significance of Warrumbup (Weedon Hill) as the birth place of rock formations in the local area.
Along with Lynette, Ursula Rodrigues, a PhD student at University of Western Australia, will be discussing the outcomes for people and Country of contemporary Noongar fire stewardship and collaboration between land managers and Noongar peoples in fire management. Ursulas research focuses on cross-cultural connections focusing on the southwest of Australia.
