Platypus Spotting Along The Meander River ticket
Enjoy a relaxed, one-hour stroll along the scenic banks of the Meander River. Led by a knowledgeable local guide, you will explore the river foreshore, learn about the fascinating life of the platypus, and get expert help spotting them in their natural habitat. Wear comfortable outdoor footwear and dress for the weather. As the walk takes place around dusk, bring an extra layer and be prepared for cooler evening conditions. Walking may be on uneven ground near the banks of the river. Friday 6th November 1 hour before sunset The Empire Hotel 19–23 Emu Bay Road, Deloraine We recommend arriving at the Hotel at about 7:30pm, to enjoy a drink while waiting for your host to announce the beginning of the tour.

The tour will showcase 30 years of stream restoration, including past successes, an active 'in-progress' project, and two ANU-funded Farm Dam Enhancement sites. Participants will walk through a 20-year-old restored riparian zone, explore a new 2.5-hectare habitat planting designed for the Eastern Barred Bandicoot, and discuss artificial denning sites for Devils and Quolls. Local landcarers will also share practical insights on watercourse restoration, managing farm dams for different agricultural needs, and cat management in the Lower West Tamar.
