Event description

A 3-part webinar series that will take you through the Story of Our Climate Emergency - on the Road to the Sustainable Development Goals

THE GLOBAL ROOM started as an interactive poster exhibition at the Stockholm Architecture Festival in August 2019. Now held in a conversational webinar format, THE GLOBAL ROOM seeks to answer your questions about our climate emergency and explain how we came to develop the Sustainable Development Goals.

It also aims to create space to discuss difficult and complex issues and feelings around ecoanxiety, helplessness and frustration. You are not alone in feeling this way! We're all working together to build a better future for humanity.

Each session will be a small-group discussion of up to 15 people. Most suitable for ages 12 and up - all are welcome! Groups of friends, colleagues and family members are encouraged to join in the same sessions together.

Please note that all ticketed times are listed in Singapore Time (GMT +08). Check the Time Zone Converter (https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html) to avoid confusion!

This 3-part webinar series is held on consecutive days (Tues/Wed/Thurs and Fri/Sat/Sun), 1.5h each day. Please pick a time that suits you!

Reviews

Simarpreet Kaur, Environmental Engineer, Singapore

The content of the webinar was not full of technical jargon or annoying buzzwords, but rather was centered on the need for actions, empathy and knowledge both on an individual and systemic scale. I do believe anyone from any background would be able to follow this presentation and engage in the discussions which was facilitated by Samantha.

This is a great platform for highlighting the importance of thought and conversation on the realities of our environmental climate. It doesn’t sugarcoat the situation at all, the road to collaborative action for positive change is rough. But it’s precisely that.

I thought TGR was riveting and very thought-provoking, which I really enjoyed! I enjoyed the topics that Sam taught us about, I knew almost nothing of the material so I really enjoyed learning a lot of new things, and especially on politics, ethics and human rights, and how that ties in with environmental issues.

TGR is a great space to learn about and discuss how Climate Change affects us and is being handled at a policy level. It's educational, and depending on the folks sharing the room with you, it can be emotional as well.
I had a really great experience; Sam is an awesome facilitator. What she shared in The Global Room was by turns informative, deeply frustrating, and cautiously hopeful. My "roommates" were insightful and sensitive, and I truly appreciate the connections I made there. It's a bit of a time commitment, but it was worth it many times over!

Di-Ann Suarez, Capacity Development Adviser, Climate Information Services, Philippines

The Global Room was a refreshing experience for me because learned new things about climate change while interacting with fellow participants. I found the information useful as I also work in the field of climate change.

I was absolutely blown away by Sam’s knowledge, her ability to connect macro and micro systems with ease and the way in which she communicated a complex story and system, with effortless accessibility for myself as a newbie in the field of sustainability/regeneration. Beyond just a teaching experience, Sam intentionally holds space at regular intervals throughout the webinar series to engage peers in conversation and wow, that took us into some interesting and innovative spaces. This is a best-in-class webinar series that serves as an intro or recap for experienced and non-experienced people in the field of sustainability and regeneration, to support us being able to do more effectively.
