Moor Music Presents: The Jazz Doof – Volume 3
Event description
SATURDAY 16 AUGUST · 7PM–3AM · THE INDUSTRIQUE
TICKETS FROM $10
And we’re back. After two packed nights of live music and selectors, Volume 3 is here to keep the good times rolling.
Our curation showcases some of the finest live bands and selectors we can find, with lineups that push the norms and take you on mind-blowing musical journeys you can actually dance to, well some times.
Expect moments of deep groove and connection on the dancefloor — then, just when you think you’re settled, the artists will pull you into musical drama, taking you to hell and back.
The Jazz Doof is all about great music, deep vibes, and a room made for moving together.
Born in backyards, grown in warehouses, it’s our way of bringing Melbourne’s underground music culture to life.
LIVE ACTS
Barney Mcall – Post Flesh Memory
Grammy- and ARIA-nominated pianist and composer, Barney McAll blends dub, soul, and experimental keys. From NYC’s Blue Note to Australia’s jazz stages, his live sets are immersive, moody journeys that fuse tradition with innovation.
Ausecumabeats
A Melbourne supergroup of Afro-Cuban musicians, Aus Ecuma Beats channels West African percussion and Latin energy through a local lens. Their live shows are bold, bright, and irresistibly rhythmic.
Steady Weather
Led by multi-instrumentalist and composer @tamil_rogeon, Steady Weather merges strings, synths, and intricate percussion into jazz that’s as danceable as it is emotional. Drawing from The Raah Project and orchestral electronica, their sound is bold and fluid.
Birdsnake
Melbourne’s groove merchants combine acid jazz, funk, and live dub experimentation. Their performances move seamlessly between tight grooves and spontaneous jams, creating a hypnotic flow.
In Xira
In Xira crafts organic house with a strong emphasis on rhythm and repetition. Their sets feel like a slow sunrise — warm, sensual, and full of life, perfect for deep moments on the floor.
THE SELECTORS
Disco Mediterranea
This Melbourne duo spins Mediterranean disco, funk, and boogie with warmth and precision — a curated journey through sun-soaked grooves.
Bellxsxs
Bell XsXs delivers deep house and downtempo with subtlety and care, crafting slow-burning sets that invite close listening and movement.
Julian Joseph
Julian Joseph (sometimes known as DiscJose or DJ Joseph) is a Melbourne-based DJ, producer, mixing engineer, and live performer. He works across house, jazz, soul, and electronic music, blending improvisation and production with a knack for reading the room. Known for energetic B2B sets and studio work in Ableton, Julian is as comfortable in the club as he is in intimate live rooms.
Garcon
Garçon brings minimal house and dubby techno to the dancefloor with a smooth, understated style that builds atmosphere over time.
Red flags
The new B2B of Lua, a rising soul vocalist and selector known for her deep, jazzy grooves, and Josh Olave, Moor Music’s director, drummer and vinyl fanatic. Their sets are a playful, unpredictable mix of jazz-house, percussive heat, and dancefloor bangers — a devil vs angel dance of chaos and control.
THE VENUE
The Industrique is a big warehouse with heavy sound and production — raw and industrial, yet open and inviting. It’s the perfect place to disappear into music and find connection.
Moor Music started in Fitzroy backyards, growing through rooftop sessions, warehouse raves, festivals, and streaming series.
At its core, it’s about great music, culture, open floors, and shared moments.
